Emalahleni FM began broadcasting on 19 March 2010 and has never gone off air since.

Founded by Charles Prince Magagula, Teballo Bashele and Judas Ngubeni, the station started with eighteen volunteers and eight shows, broadcasting from midday to 7pm. Today we broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We are deeply grateful to the partners who made this possible: the Media Diversity Development Agency, who funded our first studio and office furniture and twelve months of stipends; ESKOM, who funded our second studio; Old Mutual, who donated laptops and billboard space; the Emalahleni Local Municipality, who provided our studio and office building; and NUMSA, who donated furniture.

Emalahleni FM is licensed by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) to broadcast across a 50km radius, reaching eMalahleni, Kriel, Ogies, Middelburg, Arnot, Rietspruit, Thubelihle, Bronkhorstspruit, Verena, Doornkop, Van Dyksdrift, Belfast and Machadodorp.

Our Vision

To build lasting, continuous interaction with our listeners and clients, rooted in trust, relevance and everyday connection.
