Siyanqoba RDP Fraud Case Against Former Ward 11 Councillor Postponed for Sentencing

The fraud and corruption case involving former eMalahleni Ward 11 councillor Linda Goqo and two co-accused has been postponed to 17 and 18 September 2026, for a pre-sentencing report and sentencing.

Goqo, Xolani Manana and Sharon Mtshali appeared before the Mpumalanga High Court, sitting in Middelburg, on 3 August 2026, following their conviction in connection with the Siyanqoba RDP housing fraud scheme.

The trio was arrested by the Mpumalanga Hawks in June 2022, after investigations revealed that community members had paid money for RDP houses that were never allocated to them. According to the investigation, Goqo received the money for his personal benefit, while Manana collected cash from victims on his behalf. Mtshali was implicated after her bank account was used to receive money from one of the victims, before the funds were withdrawn and handed over to Goqo.

The accused remain out on bail of R2,000 each, pending sentencing.
